​Information

​ The organ academy is aimed at professional musicians, students and talented pupils who would like to gain inspiration from renowned teachers. Unique for the course is the combination of organ and piano, as well as masterclass and competition.  
Organs by Egedacher, Metzler, Pirchner and Klais are available as teaching and practice instruments. In addition to organ lessons, piano and technique lessons will be offered.  
The Maria Hofer Organ Competition, which takes place at the end of the course and is endowed with a total of €2900, consists of two rounds. A work by J. S. Bach must be prepared for the final round. Participation is voluntary.  
The week will be complemented by concerts given by the teachers, and participants will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Kitzbühel Alps on a hike

KATHARINA KÖNIGSFELD

​The pianist and organist Katharina Königsfeld, born in Bamberg, discovered her passion for the piano and organ at the age of 6. She studied both piano and organ as an artistic major with Prof. A. von Arnim and Prof. R. M. Stangier at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

HANNFRIED LUCKE

​​ Hannfried Lucke was born in Freiburg i. Br. He received his musical training at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, the Mozarteum Salzburg, and the Conservatoire de musique in Geneva.

MATTHIAS MAIERHOFER

​ Matthias Maierhofer, born in 1979 in Graz, Austria, received his initial musical training from Karl Schmelzer-Ziringer. He later studied organ, early music, and church music at institutions in Graz, Freiburg, Leipzig, and the Schola Cantorum in Basel.  His teachers included Arvid Gast, Andrea Marcon, Kurt Neuhauser, and Martin Schmeding.

​​​​​​Participation

​ The courses are open to professional musicians, music students and talented pupils. Passive participation is possible. There will be daily lessons for active participants. In addition, topics such as registration, repertoire insights etc. are discussed as required. As a participant you have lessons with all teachers including piano lessons/technical studies for organists on the piano.
Good practice opportunities are available at no extra cost.

The accompanying program includes concerts by the teachers and a hike. Participation in the integrated Maria Hofer Organ Competition is voluntary.
Those who “only” want to take part in the course are therefore also very welcome. Active participants of the International Organ Academy Kitzbühel receive a diploma at the end of their master class. The course program prepared by participants must be indicated on the registration form. Daily lessons.

​Registration and Payment ​Modalities

  Registration fee: € 50,00
The registration fee must be transferred to the account of the International Organ Academy Kitzbühel (free of charge for the recipient). Confirmation of registration will be sent after receipt of payment of the registration fee. The registration fee cannot be refunded if the participant is unable to attend or misses the deadline.
 
Course fee: € 300.00
The course fee must be transferred to the account of the International Organ Academy Kitzbühel by July 20, 2025 at the latest. If the payment deadline is not met, participation cannot be guaranteed.

The International Organ Academy Kitzbühel cooperates with various guesthouses and hotels in Kitzbühel to provide accommodation for course participants.

organ competition

​​ The “Maria Hofer Competition” integrated into the course is endowed with a total prize money of €2900 . Participation is voluntary and will be discussed with the lecturers during the masterclass.

Participants must prepare two pieces of their own choice - one of them by J. S. Bach - which are suitable for the competition organs in Kitzbühel (Pirchner) and Hopfgarten (Metzler).  

The competition will take place in two concert rounds on Thursday in Hopfgarten (preliminary round) and Saturday in Kitzbühel (final).  

1st prize: €1,200
2nd prize: €800
3rd prize: €500
